My Trip to Utah

In the words of Xander:

Nana & Grumpy woke me up really early and I got a Happy Meal for breakfast! I got a Pokeman--4 Pokeman's!

I went to Farm Country. Where I got to ride a horse.

I got to walk in Nathan & Ryan's parade of their church.

I got to have ice cream and it was chocolate and vanilla. I thought I was going to get raspberry and vanilla.

I went bowling at Jack & Jill's Lanes. I got my first spare of REAL bowling. It was a lot of fun. There were bumpers. But when I got my first spare, I did not use the bumper.

I went to the park and craft camp. I made a papier mache fish. But it was going to get smooshed when I drove home so the lady who was in charge of craft camp--she made me a monster pillow! After craft camp I got to go to the park that I always went to at night time--2 times.

I got to play in the whale pool-but I had to fill it up with a hose in the backyard. And after that I got to play in it.

I earned a Felix buck by being good. I earned enough to earn a present book for my surprise. (Flat Stanley and the Haunted House-I LOVE IT!)

My favorite part was getting my first real spare in bowling. I told my mom and dad that I wanted to stay until November. (that's when the Felix's are coming to visit us!) I also asked my mom if she could make Auntie Em's breadsticks.

In the words of Mom: Xander left one Monday and came home the next. It was pretty weird not having him around but he was having so much fun he didn't even want to talk to us on the phone! He had one day that he got a little homesick but quickly got over it. When we met my parents in Nevada to pick him up, Xander talked for an hour and a half of our 2 hour drive and then he fell asleep. Em says that it really was a blast having him and I hope it was because not only was it helpful for me to slow down for a week but I just want so badly for our kids to all know each other. Traveling is so hard and expensive and so it was so nice that Xander could just hop in the car with my parents and go have a blast. Hopefully the Felix kids will enjoy us just as much when they come stay here for Thanksgiving! Thanks Felix's for taking care of our boy-he sure grew up while he was gone!

PS Pictures forth coming-my folks bought Xander a disposable camera that I need to get printed! :)

More fun while Xander was gone

We had lots of GIRLS over while Xander was gone, so Eliza and I got our pool out. Unfortunately, the squirrels had too much fun in it one night and we no longer have a pool.

Eliza got lots of Mommy time while Xander was away. She LOVES to help me in the kitchen. This is her helping me make cookies for Preston. Preston is the Cub Scout that saved her life! No, seriously...here's the story:

I'm serving in Cub Scouts again right now and thought it would be a great idea to do all the swimming related activities this month. I got certified and we set a date. I had my Mom take Violet because I knew I wouldn't be able to teach and keep an eye on all 3 kids. Everything would have gone perfect if I hadn't had forgotten Eliza's life jacket. But she is usually pretty good about listening around the pool so she sat down with a snack and was told to wait until I was done. I kept checking on her and Xander as I talked to the 8 & 9 year old Scouts but the next thing I know, one of the boys (Preston) says, "Um, I think she is going to drown!" Knowing how pregnant I am and that jumping in the pool isn't the best thing for me, I ran to the edge where Eliza was, Preston was attempting to help her, reached in and grabbed her. I tried not to freak out too badly because I didn't want Eliza to. It was SO scary. It happened SO quietly and SO quickly that who knows ( I certainly don't want to think about it) what could have happened. We are working on getting a Heroism patch for Preston but in the mean time we made him cookies and cards and thanked him for being aware of what was going on and for telling an adult. No one else saw Eliza even though she was RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR EYES! I hope my kids will be observant like Preston some day and will speak up and tell adults--it's such an important lesson to learn. Needless to say but, Eliza is now going to start her swim lessons with Mom.

Happy Fathers Day

Father's day was pretty simple this year-we took Ben camping. We both love to camp but since we've moved every summer for the past 4 years and I was coaching before that, we have not gone camping more than once. Pathetic, I know. Well, since Ben bought a camper trailer last year, it's a little easier. I was able to get our friends, The Sanfords, on board to come with us and I'm glad we did--they are so much fun! Our kids just LOVE theirs. I learned I have a long way to go with patience though after watching Lindy put her kids to bed. I'm so cranky by the end of the day--it has gotten to the point where I mostly just say good night and close the doors. Lindy's poor kids did not want to go to sleep and so she told a story for at least 45 minutes. It was amazing. I'd say it's because I'm a cranky pregnant lady but I can't use that excuse because Lindy is a whole week ahead of me, due with their 3rd. :) I'm so grateful for friends that teach me--this was no exception. Anyways, here are so fun pics to remember the trip!!

Violet & Charlotte

S'mores!! :)(I think Ben was putting Vi to sleep)

Swimming in the lake. Yes, our trip was all the way over at Folsom Lake. Hey, we went to the other side of it! The water actually felt so good-not too hot or cold!

What is it with kids and little chairs? Such a good investment! The kids all loved them!

Beating the Weather

We had an extended spring this year--I am not complaining, it was lovely! But it was super rainy the first Saturday in June. Since Xander & Eliza had earned a trip to Chuck E Cheese, oh about 6 months ago, we decided to go ahead and let them redeem it. We had a great time. We gave them each 4 tokens and they got to choose. Then we went to good old Burger King, with an indoor playplace, and let them order from the $1 menu. When we got home, we had ice cream. It turned out to be a fun adventure and every one was happy at the end of the day. :)
